Most ERP requests from UAE teams are configuration, not development. Knowing what your admin can change safely saves cost and keeps the system easy to upgrade.
Without a developer, an ERP administrator can usually add custom fields and picklists, rearrange form layouts, set approval rules by amount or department, edit bilingual Arabic and English invoice templates, create alerts and build saved reports and dashboards. For most UAE SMEs this no code layer covers most post-go-live change requests, though initial accounting, VAT setup, data migration and integrations still need an implementation partner.
No code ERP is the set of changes an ERP administrator can make through the system's own settings and visual tools, without writing script or touching code. In practice that covers adding a field, changing a form layout, setting up an approval rule, editing the tax invoice template, creating an email alert or building a report. For most UAE small and mid-sized companies, this layer handles the large majority of change requests that come in after go-live.
The term is also used in marketing, where some vendors describe their whole product as a no code ERP. That is only half true. Every serious ERP needs an implementation partner for the accounting setup, VAT configuration, data migration and integrations. What a configurable ERP gives you is the ability to keep adjusting it afterwards, so a new branch, a new approval limit or a new customer category does not need a change request and a developer.
This page focuses on configuring the ERP itself. If business users want to build separate apps, see no code development; if you need new record types and logic inside the ERP, see low code ERP.

When nobody in-house knows what can be configured, small changes become slow and expensive.
Adding a dropdown value or moving a field on the quotation form goes to the implementation partner. Simple changes wait days and are billed as development.
Purchase and discount limits change when a new manager joins, but the ERP is never updated, so approvals happen by email outside the system and leave no audit trail.
Teams export invoices to Word to add an Arabic line or a bank detail, which risks missing the TRN or other fields a tax invoice must show.
Companies pay for automation, alerts and dashboards that are already in their edition but were never switched on during a rushed implementation.
In other companies the opposite happens: several people have full admin rights and change fields in production without testing or telling anyone.
These are standard, supported settings in the main platforms, so they survive upgrades far better than custom code.
Add fields such as a customer's emirate, free zone or trade license expiry, make fields mandatory, and arrange forms per user role.
Route purchase orders, bills, credit notes and discounts by amount and department. See approval workflow software for how approval matrices are designed.
Edit tax invoice, credit note, quotation and delivery note layouts, including Arabic text, logos, bank details and the fields a tax invoice must show.
Send an alert when a customer exceeds the credit limit, when stock drops below the reorder level, or when a contract nears expiry.
Control who can see cost prices, edit posted documents or approve payments, which supports segregation of duties for audits.
Save filtered reports, group by branch or cost center, and pin charts to role dashboards without a separate BI project.
Even without code, changes to a live ERP need a light change control routine.
One shared database: every step updates stock, finance and reports in real time.

Our goal is that your team handles routine changes and calls us only for real development.
We review which standard settings, approvals and alerts are unused and list quick wins, often closing gaps that were assumed to need development.
We define one or two named admins, restrict full rights, and set up a test copy of the ERP where changes are tried first.
Admins learn to add fields, edit templates, maintain approval rules and build reports on your own data, with a written guide for each task.
We agree which requests are configuration and which need low code development or a separate app, for example a low code business app for staff who do not use the ERP.
For background flows between systems we often add no code workflow automation, and we stay available for reviews before major version upgrades.
We configure the system for the rules UAE businesses report against, and test it before go-live.

Ask an ExpertNot for a business that has VAT, inventory or payroll. Small companies can start quickly with Zoho Books or Odoo, but chart of accounts, tax codes, opening balances and user roles still need careful setup. No-code configuration helps after that, not instead of it.
Zoho apps are generally the simplest for small teams. Odoo with Studio and ERPNext with Customize Form and the Workflow builder offer more depth. Business Central is very configurable but its settings assume some ERP experience. The right choice depends on your processes, not just ease of configuration.
Yes, in all four platforms. Keep the fields a UAE tax invoice must show, including your TRN, the customer's TRN where applicable, the date, a sequential number, VAT rate and VAT amount. Bilingual Arabic and English layouts are common. Confirm requirements with your tax advisor.
Standard configuration is designed to carry over, which is the main advantage over custom code. It is still good practice to test key templates, approval rules and reports after each major version update.
That is why we recommend a test copy and a change log. Most configuration changes can be reversed, but changes to posted documents or tax settings can affect reports, so those should always be reviewed before they go live.
