Twenty process guides for UAE contractors, from tender and BOQ to costing, procurement, billing, retention and final account, written by consultants who implement them.
A construction project management ERP runs the commercial and operational side of each UAE project: tender and BOQ, budgets by cost code, purchases and subcontracts, site stores, labor and plant hours, progress claims, retention, variations and final account. It does not replace scheduling tools like Primavera P6 or MS Project; activity IDs can be shared so progress and cost line up.
A construction project management ERP is not a scheduling tool. Primavera P6 and MS Project plan activities; the ERP runs the commercial and operational side of each project: the BOQ, the budget, every purchase and subcontract, site stores, labor and plant hours, progress claims, retention and variations. When these share one project and cost code structure, the cost report, the cash position and the margin forecast come from the same ledger.
UAE contractors face a particular mix: consultant-led contracts with interim payment certificates and retention, a large share of work subcontracted, materials bought for specific sites, a labor force paid through WPS with accommodation and transport cost, and VAT and corporate tax rules that depend on how revenue and cost are recognized. E-invoicing will add structured invoices from 2027 onward. Each guide in this section takes one of these processes and explains how it should run in an ERP.
If you are still choosing a platform, start with ERP for construction companies or the role view for construction project managers. If you already have an ERP and one process is failing, use the table below to jump to the right guide.
Every guide follows the same pattern so you can compare them quickly: the problem as it shows up in UAE companies, the recommended ERP workflow step by step, the modules involved, the reports a manager should review, how Zoho, Odoo, ERPNext and Dynamics 365 each handle the process, the UAE compliance points that apply, and a realistic rollout sequence. None of them assumes you will buy everything at once. Most contractors fix the process that costs them most money first, usually cost visibility or billing, and then extend.

The guides group into six areas that follow the life of a project, from winning the work to closing the final account. Read the area where your biggest gap is, then follow the links between guides.
Pricing work and structuring the contract bill. Start with tender management and BOQ software. The BOQ becomes the reference for budget, buying and claims, so getting its structure right early saves rework in every later stage.
Cost codes, committed cost and forecasts. See project costing software and budget control. These guides explain how commitments from LPOs and subcontracts appear in the cost report before invoices arrive, and how forecasts at completion are kept honest.
From site request to delivered material. Read construction procurement and material management. They cover RFQs, comparison statements, approval limits, consultant submittals and the monthly reconciliation of issued against installed quantities.
Yard and site stores, plant and tools. Covered in construction inventory and equipment management. Learn how to run a central yard and site containers, charge issues to activities, and recover the cost of owned and hired plant.
Getting paid for work done. See progress billing and retention management. These guides deal with interim payment applications, retention held and released, and variation orders from instruction through to the final account.
Labor hours and trade packages. See construction timesheets and subcontractor management. They show how crew hours become loaded labor cost and how subcontract certificates, back-charges and retention are controlled.

| If your problem is... | Read this first | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The cost report is always a month behind | Construction project costing | Explains committed cost and coding at source |
| Claims are rebuilt in Excel every month | Construction billing software | Shows claims generated from measured progress |
| Variations are approved but never billed | Variation order software | Covers the VO register from instruction to final account |
| Retention receivable is not reconciled | Retention management | Tracks retention held and released per contract |
| Buyers order without budget checks | Construction purchase requisition | Adds budget checks before the LPO |
| Site stock vanishes into job cost | Construction inventory software | Sets up site stores and project-coded issues |
| Directors cannot see margin by project | Construction profitability | Builds margin by project, client and job type |
| Managers want one live view of all sites | Construction project dashboard | Shows the KPIs and data flow behind a portfolio view |

Ask an ExpertUsually not. Scheduling tools stay for planning; the ERP handles cost, procurement, stores, labor and billing. Activity IDs can be shared so progress and cost line up.
It depends on size and complexity. Smaller fit-out and maintenance contractors often fit Zoho, mid-size contractors often choose Odoo or ERPNext, and larger groups often prefer Dynamics 365. We implement all four and recommend by fit; see Zoho for construction for the smallest end.
Rarely. Most contractors start with project costing, procurement and billing, then add stores, equipment and subcontractor modules in a second phase.
Construction adds BOQs, interim certificates, retention, variations, site stores and subcontract packages. General project management ERP covers services projects billed on time or milestones.
They mention where it affects each process. For the full picture see UAE e-invoicing for construction companies, and check the latest MoF and FTA guidance.
