Forwarders, 3PLs and transport operators across the UAE use Zoho to tie each shipment's quote, costs and invoice together. We design that setup so every job shows its margin before it is closed.
Zoho can run a UAE freight forwarder, transport operator or small 3PL if the shipment is treated as the centre of the system. Zoho has no packaged freight forwarding app, so the job file is built in Zoho Creator and linked to Zoho CRM and Zoho Books, with costs and invoices tagged per job. Zoho Analytics then reports margin by job, lane and customer.
Zoho for logistics in the UAE works best when you treat the shipment, not the customer, as the center of the system. A freight forwarder in Al Quoz, a transport company running trucks between Jebel Ali and Abu Dhabi, or a small 3PL in Dubai South all share one problem: revenue and costs arrive at different times, from different people, and often in different currencies. When the job file lives in email threads and a spreadsheet, nobody knows the true margin until the month is closed.
Zoho does not ship a ready-made freight forwarding application, and we say that upfront. What it does offer is a set of connected apps that a good partner can shape into one: Zoho CRM for enquiries and rate quotes, Zoho Creator for job files and shipment milestones, Zoho Books for vendor bills, customer invoices and VAT, and Zoho Analytics for margin by lane, customer and salesperson. For companies that need heavy warehouse slotting or a full TMS, we may recommend pairing Zoho with a specialist tool, or looking at Odoo for logistics instead.

These come up in almost every first meeting with forwarders, transporters and 3PL operators in the UAE.
Shipping line, airline and trucking bills often reach accounts weeks after the customer has been invoiced. Without accruals per job, margins look good one month and collapse the next.
Customs duty, port charges and DO fees paid on behalf of customers get booked as income and cost. This inflates turnover and complicates VAT and corporate tax reporting.
Sales sends rates by email, operations re-types the details into a job sheet, and accounts re-types them again. Each hand-off is a chance to lose a charge.
Customers call to ask where their container is, and staff check three portals and a WhatsApp group. There is no single status per shipment that sales and customer service can see.
Freight is often bought in USD or EUR and sold in AED. Exchange differences need to be captured per job, not lost in a general ledger adjustment.
Vehicle registration renewals, Salik charges, fuel cards and driver documents are tracked in separate files, so expiries get missed.
A typical forwarding or transport job moves through these stages. Each one maps to a record or status in Zoho so everyone works from the same file.
One shared database: every step updates stock, finance and reports in real time.
Most logistics clients run on Zoho One, which bundles these apps under one licence per employee. Smaller operators sometimes start with Books, CRM and Creator only.
Captures enquiries from email, web forms and WhatsApp, holds customer rate cards and produces quotes by lane, container type or weight band.
Hosts the job file: shipper, consignee, BL or AWB numbers, container details, milestones and attached documents, with a mobile view for operations staff.
Handles vendor bills per job, customer invoices, disbursement lines, multi-currency, bank reconciliation and VAT returns.
Suitable for simple 3PL storage: customer-owned stock by warehouse and bin, inbound receipts and outbound picks. Complex slotting needs a dedicated WMS.
Builds margin reports by job, lane, customer and salesperson, plus unbilled jobs and accrued costs not yet invoiced by carriers.
Turns customer status queries and damage or delay claims into tickets tied to the shipment, with response targets.
Keeps driver and warehouse staff records, document expiries, attendance and payroll with WPS salary files.
Stores BLs, commercial invoices and packing lists per job, and collects signed delivery notes or service agreements.

Operations managers and finance look at the same numbers, refreshed from Creator and Books.
Logistics has some of the trickier VAT treatments in the UAE. We configure Zoho to record them correctly; your tax advisor confirms the treatment for your contracts.
International transport of goods and related services can qualify for zero-rating, while purely domestic haulage is generally standard-rated at 5%. We set up separate tax rules per service line in Zoho Books so invoices pick the right code. Confirm the treatment with your tax advisor.
Amounts paid on a customer's behalf, such as customs duty, may be treated as disbursements outside the scope of VAT when specific conditions are met. We record them on separate invoice lines and accounts so they do not inflate revenue.
Moving goods in and out of designated zones such as JAFZA has its own VAT rules. Job files capture origin and destination zones so finance can review the treatment.
Under Ministerial Decisions No. 243 and 244 of 2025, businesses with revenue of AED 50 million or more must go live with e-invoicing through an Accredited Service Provider from 1 January 2027, and smaller businesses from 1 July 2027. We prepare Zoho Books data fields for the PINT AE format. Check the latest Ministry of Finance and FTA guidance.
Salaries are paid through the Wage Protection System using a Salary Information File. Zoho Payroll keeps employee bank and labour card details ready for each payroll run.

Ask an ExpertNot as a packaged app. We build the job file and shipment workflow in Zoho Creator and connect it to Zoho CRM and Zoho Books. This gives you a setup that matches your charge codes and documents rather than a generic template.
Yes. Vendor bills and customer invoices are tagged to the job, and estimated costs are recorded as accruals until the carrier bill arrives. Zoho Analytics then reports margin by job, lane and customer.
For simple storage and pick operations, Zoho Inventory can track customer-owned stock by warehouse and bin. If you need wave picking, slotting optimization or handheld-heavy operations, a dedicated WMS or a platform such as Odoo may fit better, and we will tell you which.
Yes. A Creator customer portal can show each customer their own jobs, milestones and documents, which reduces status calls to your team.
Zoho Books supports multi-currency invoices and bills with exchange rates per transaction. Realized gains and losses are posted automatically, and VAT amounts are shown in AED as required on tax invoices.
A focused rollout for a single-branch forwarder often takes 8-12 weeks. Multi-branch operators with integrations to carrier or customs portals usually need longer.
