Taking your ERP off the office server and into the cloud changes hosting, access, integrations and support. We plan each piece so the move happens over a weekend, not a month.
Moving an on-premise ERP to the cloud in the UAE means assessing the current installation, choosing vendor SaaS, managed hosting or your own cloud tenant, preparing code and data, testing in the cloud and cutting over in a planned weekend or holiday window. Hosting regions can be chosen with UAE data residency in mind, and integrations, printers and devices are re-pointed.
ERP cloud migration in the UAE covers a specific kind of project: your company already has an ERP, often one you are happy with, but it runs on a server in the office or a rack at a local data center. The goal is to move it to the cloud, either as SaaS from the vendor or onto managed cloud infrastructure, without changing how the business works more than necessary.
The usual triggers are practical. A server is reaching end of life. Branches in Abu Dhabi or Sharjah suffer slow access over VPN. Staff need the ERP on mobile in the warehouse or on site. IT wants backups, patching and disaster recovery handled properly. Sometimes the push comes from the vendor, as with Microsoft steering Dynamics NAV customers towards Business Central online.
We migrate Odoo, ERPNext, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and custom ERP systems to the cloud, and we can combine the move with an upgrade or a switch of platform if that makes more sense. Where moving to a different ERP is the bigger change, our legacy ERP migration page is the better starting point.

Most cloud migration problems are not about the database. They come from everything around it.
Odoo Online and Business Central online limit what code can run. Customizations built directly into an on-premise installation may need to be rewritten as supported modules or extensions, or a private cloud option chosen instead.
Barcode label printers, biometric attendance terminals, weighbridges and shared folders were reachable on the office network. In the cloud they need connectors, print agents or APIs.
Some UAE sectors, such as government-related entities, healthcare and financial services, have rules on where data may be stored. Hosting region and provider must be checked against your regulator's guidance.
Once the ERP is in the cloud, the office connection matters more. Warehouses and showrooms need a backup link or an offline-capable process for POS and receiving.
Large databases with years of attachments take time to copy. Without a planned sync and cut-over, the business can be offline longer than expected.
In SaaS, the vendor runs the platform; in private cloud, someone must patch, monitor and back up. Responsibilities need to be written down before go-live.
What we map during an ERP cloud migration. The right-hand column depends on whether you choose SaaS or private cloud hosting.
| On-premise component | Cloud target | Migration notes |
|---|---|---|
| ERP application server | Vendor SaaS or managed virtual machines and containers | Version aligned with what the cloud option supports |
| Database (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MariaDB) | Vendor-managed database or managed database service | Copied, then synced or re-copied at cut-over |
| Custom code and modules | Supported extensions, apps or modules | Reviewed for compatibility; rewritten where SaaS rules require it |
| File attachments and document store | Cloud file storage linked to the ERP | Moved in bulk before cut-over, with a final delta copy |
| Local printers and label printers | Cloud print services or local print agents | Tested per document type: invoices, labels, delivery notes |
| Biometric and barcode devices | API or connector-based integrations | Devices re-pointed and data flow tested end to end |
| Scheduled jobs and bank file exports | Cloud schedulers or ERP automation | Bank and WPS salary file routines retested |
| Active Directory logins | Cloud identity, such as Microsoft Entra ID or ERP-native logins | Multi-factor authentication enabled for remote access |
| Tape or NAS backups | Provider backups plus independent exports | Restore tested before the old server is retired |
| VPN access for branches | Direct secure web access | Role permissions reviewed as access widens |
Microsoft Azure and AWS both operate cloud regions in the UAE. Whether a given ERP SaaS service stores your data in-country varies by product; confirm with the vendor and your regulator.
A staged approach that tests everything in the cloud before users are moved.
We review ERP version, database size, customizations, integrations, devices and the users who connect from each location.
SaaS, partner-managed hosting or your own Azure or AWS tenant, compared on customization limits, data residency, control and running effort.
Customizations are made compatible, unused modules removed and the database cleaned of logs and test data.
A full copy runs in the cloud environment. Users test daily tasks, printing, integrations and reports from each branch.
The on-premise system is frozen, the final data copy taken and users switched to the cloud, often across a weekend.
We monitor performance and backups, fix early issues, and once restores are proven, the old server is decommissioned.
Confirm these before booking a cut-over weekend.
Typical ranges for a single ERP moving to the cloud without changing platform. Combining the move with an upgrade adds time.
Durations are typical ranges; your plan is agreed after discovery.
Installation, integrations, devices and compliance requirements reviewed.
Hosting model, region, identity and backup approach agreed.
Customizations made compatible and data cleaned.
User, integration and performance testing on a full copy.
Weekend switchover, monitoring and hardware retirement.

Ask an ExpertOften, yes. Major cloud providers have UAE regions, and private cloud hosting can be placed there. For SaaS products, data location depends on the vendor, so we confirm it before you commit.
Some will, some will not. SaaS editions restrict custom code, so heavy customizations may need rewriting or a private cloud setup. We review each one during assessment.
For most mid-sized databases the switch can be done in a planned weekend or holiday window. Very large databases may need a sync approach to keep downtime short.
It can be, because providers handle physical security, patching and redundancy. But security still depends on strong passwords, multi-factor authentication and correct user roles, which we set up as part of the move.
Yes, and it is common with Odoo, ERPNext and NAV-to-Business Central moves. Combining them saves a second cut-over but adds testing, so we plan the scope carefully.
