Shopify is where your customers buy; Odoo is where you pick, invoice and close the month. We connect the two so stock, orders, refunds and payouts move without spreadsheets.
An Odoo Shopify integration publishes products and prices from Odoo, pushes available stock per Shopify location, and turns each Shopify order into an Odoo sales order through webhooks. Odoo handles picking, courier labels and tax invoices, sends tracking numbers back to Shopify, reconciles payouts and COD remittances, and converts refunds into credit notes. Connectors come from the Odoo Apps Store or custom builds.
An Odoo Shopify integration in the UAE links the storefront your customers see with the Odoo database where your team receives goods, picks parcels, raises tax invoices and reconciles the bank. Most UAE brands that start on Shopify run the back office on a mix of the Shopify admin, a courier portal and an Excel stock sheet. That works at 20 orders a day. At 200 orders a day across a Dubai warehouse and a showroom, the gaps show: overselling, missing COD cash and a month-end that takes two weeks.
In standard Odoo there is no built-in Shopify app in most versions, so the connection is usually made with a paid connector from the Odoo Apps Store or with a custom module that calls the Shopify Admin API. Either way the design questions are the same: which system owns the product catalogue, which owns stock, when an order becomes an Odoo sales order, and how the money Shopify, a payment gateway or a courier sends you is matched to those orders. We build this as part of our wider Odoo integration services.
This page is about Shopify specifically. If you sell on WordPress, see Odoo WooCommerce integration; if you run Odoo's own website builder instead of Shopify, read about Odoo ecommerce integration. For the platform-neutral view of the same problem, our ERP Shopify integration guide compares approaches across systems.

The products we configure, integrate and support on projects like this one.
Product names and logos are trademarks of their respective owners and are shown only to identify the software we implement.
These are the issues we hear from UAE Shopify merchants before an integration project starts.
Stock is updated in Shopify by hand once a day, so a White Friday or Ramadan campaign sells units that were already reserved for a wholesale order in Odoo. The customer service team then spends days cancelling and refunding.
Cash-on-delivery is still common in the UAE, and couriers remit collections in batches with their own reference numbers. Without order-level matching in Odoo, finance cannot tell which parcels were paid, returned or lost.
Gateway or Shopify payouts arrive net of fees and refunds. Booking the net amount as revenue understates sales, hides fees and makes the VAT return hard to support.
UAE consumer prices are shown inclusive of 5% VAT. If Shopify is set to include tax but the Odoo tax is not marked as price-included, invoices are inflated by 5% or revenue is understated.
A Shopify product with size and colour options becomes a flat list of items in Excel. When SKUs differ between Shopify and Odoo, every sync tool fails on the first mismatched variant.
A typical flow for a UAE merchant with one Odoo warehouse feeding the Shopify store and a showroom.
One shared database: every step updates stock, finance and reports in real time.
The exact scope depends on the connector you choose and your Odoo version. This is the scope we usually agree with UAE clients.
| Data | Direction | Trigger / frequency | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Products and variants | Odoo to Shopify (or one-time import from Shopify) | On change or scheduled | SKU is the matching key; decide early which system owns titles, images and descriptions |
| Prices and compare-at prices | Odoo to Shopify | On pricelist change | Keep prices VAT-inclusive in both systems for UAE consumers |
| Stock on hand | Odoo to Shopify | Every few minutes or on stock move | Push available quantity (on hand minus reservations), mapped per Shopify location |
| Orders | Shopify to Odoo | Webhook on order creation, with scheduled catch-up | Creates a sales order with lines, discounts, shipping fee and payment method |
| Customers | Shopify to Odoo | With each order | Match on email or phone to avoid duplicate contacts; B2B buyers may need a TRN field |
| Fulfilment and tracking | Odoo to Shopify | When the delivery order is validated | Sends courier name and tracking number so Shopify notifies the customer |
| Cancellations and refunds | Shopify to Odoo | Webhook or scheduled | Cancels the sales order or raises a credit note and return receipt |
| Payouts and fees | Gateway or Shopify report to Odoo | Per payout | Booked to a clearing account, fees split out, net amount matched to the bank line |
We recommend the method based on order volume, Odoo edition and how much you need to customize. Connector availability and pricing change, so we check the current version before committing.
A focused Shopify connection is often live in 3-6 weeks; multi-location or multi-store setups take longer.
We export Shopify products and Odoo items, fix duplicate or missing SKUs, and agree which system owns each field. Variant attributes are mapped one to one.
We compare two or three Odoo Apps Store connectors against a custom build, testing them on a copy of your database with real orders, including COD and partial refunds.
Price-included 5% VAT, a clearing journal per gateway, a COD receivable per courier and fee accounts are set up in Odoo before any order is synced.
For one to two weeks, orders sync into Odoo while the old process continues. We compare stock, revenue and payouts daily and fix mapping errors.
We switch stock ownership to Odoo, turn on alerts for failed syncs and hand over a short runbook so your team can retry or correct an order without calling us.
These points shape how we configure the integration. Confirm tax treatment with your tax advisor.
Shopify order confirmations are not a substitute for a compliant tax invoice. Odoo generates the invoice with your TRN and the prescribed fields, and keeps it with the audit trail, as described on our UAE VAT ERP page.
Shopify sends names, phone numbers and addresses into Odoo. Limit access by role, avoid copying card data (it stays with the gateway) and document the flow for the UAE Personal Data Protection Law.
The UAE e-invoicing programme focuses first on B2B and B2G invoices exchanged through Accredited Service Providers. If you also sell wholesale through Odoo, plan that flow separately and check the latest Ministry of Finance / FTA guidance on B2C scope.
Keep orders, invoices, credit notes and payout reports for at least five years. Storing the Shopify order ID on each Odoo invoice makes any FTA query traceable.

Benefits our clients typically aim for. Results depend on your data quality and order volume.
Shopify shows what Odoo can actually ship, including reservations for wholesale and showroom sales.
Orders arrive in Odoo ready to pick, so the warehouse no longer waits for someone to export a CSV.
Every courier remittance and gateway payout is matched to orders, with fees and returns visible.
Revenue, refunds and fees are already in Odoo by order, so closing is reconciliation, not rebuilding.
We configure the system for the rules UAE businesses report against, and test it before go-live.

Ask an ExpertIn most Odoo versions there is no official Shopify app in the standard product, so integrations use a third-party connector from the Odoo Apps Store, middleware or a custom module. Check your exact Odoo version, because the app landscape changes. We test the shortlisted options on your data before you buy.
Odoo, in almost every case. Odoo knows about purchase receipts, wholesale reservations, showroom sales and returns, so it should push available quantity to Shopify. Shopify then only reduces stock temporarily until the order arrives in Odoo.
COD orders come into Odoo with a COD payment method and stay open until the courier remits. We import the courier's remittance file, match it to orders and post the difference as returns or courier charges. Our page on Odoo bank integration covers the bank side.
Yes, many connectors support multiple stores, for example a UAE store and a KSA store, each mapped to its own pricelist, warehouse and sales team. KSA sales need their own VAT setup, so we plan that with your tax advisor.
Yes. Odoo becomes the stock master for all channels, and each channel gets a share or the full available quantity. See our pages on Odoo Amazon integration and Odoo Noon integration.
Yes. Once the order is in Odoo, delivery and payment events can trigger approved WhatsApp templates for customers who opted in. See Odoo WhatsApp integration.
