Shopify is good at selling. Your ERP is where stock, VAT and cash have to add up. We connect the two so every order, refund and payout lands in the right account without spreadsheets.
An ERP Shopify integration makes the ERP the owner of products, prices, stock and accounting while Shopify remains the storefront. Stock per location syncs to Shopify, orders, refunds and payouts post to the ERP, VAT-inclusive prices split into net and 5% tax, and gateway fees reconcile against payouts. UAE brands avoid overselling during sales and rebuilding Shopify exports in Excel.
A UAE brand on Shopify usually starts with the store as its whole back office. That works until there is a warehouse in Al Quoz or Jebel Ali, a showroom, a wholesale customer list and a finance team that needs a VAT return every quarter. An ERP Shopify integration makes the ERP the owner of products, stock and accounting while Shopify stays the storefront and checkout.
The hard parts are rarely the order import. They are stock across several locations, VAT-inclusive pricing that must split correctly into net and 5% tax, discounts and gift cards, partial refunds and exchanges, and payouts that arrive net of gateway fees days after the sale. If those are not designed up front, finance ends up reconciling Shopify exports in Excel every month, which defeats the purpose of the ERP.
Each platform connects differently. Zoho users often start with the native Zoho Inventory Shopify integration or the Zoho Books Shopify connector; Odoo and ERPNext teams should read the Odoo Shopify integration and ERPNext Shopify integration guides. This page explains the platform-neutral design we apply in every case.

These are the issues finance and operations teams raise most often when Shopify is not connected to the ERP.
Stock is updated in Shopify by hand or once a day. During White Friday or Ramadan sales, items sell out in the warehouse but stay live online, and customer service spends days cancelling orders.
Shopify prices are usually VAT-inclusive. If the ERP imports gross amounts as revenue, or applies tax on top, the VAT return and margin reports are both wrong.
The gateway pays out net of fees, refunds and chargebacks, often for several days of orders at once. Without fee and refund lines posted in the ERP, bank reconciliation stalls.
Guest checkouts, repeat buyers with new emails and B2B accounts create messy customer records that sales and finance cannot trust.
A showroom POS and an online store both sell from the same stock. Without one inventory owner, counts drift and transfers are not recorded.
A refund is issued in Shopify but the returned item never comes back into ERP stock, so stock and the cost of goods sold both drift.
The order-to-cash path we implement for most UAE Shopify merchants.
One shared database: every step updates stock, finance and reports in real time.
A typical mapping. Your exact fields depend on apps, payment gateways and whether you sell B2B.

|---|---|---|---|
| Products and variants (size, color, SKU, barcode) | ERP to Shopify | On create or change | ERP item code is the master key; Shopify handles media and SEO text |
| Price lists | ERP to Shopify | On price change or scheduled | Keep VAT-inclusive retail prices consistent with ERP tax settings |
| Available stock per location | ERP to Shopify | Near real time on stock moves | Subtract reserved and safety stock before pushing |
| Orders | Shopify to ERP | Webhook on order paid or created | Includes discounts, shipping lines, gift cards and tags |
| Fulfillment and tracking | ERP to Shopify | On delivery note validation | Courier and tracking number shown to the customer |
| Refunds and returns | Shopify to ERP | Webhook on refund | Creates credit note; stock receipt only when goods are inspected |
| Payouts and transaction fees | Shopify to ERP | Daily or per payout | Posts clearing account, fees and net bank deposit |
| Customers | Shopify to ERP | With each order | Match on email and phone; B2B companies flagged separately |
Shopify exposes a well-documented Admin API and webhooks. How you use them depends on your ERP; confirm current app availability for your edition.
Decide which system owns items, prices, stock, customers and orders. In nearly every case the ERP owns items, stock and accounting.
Align SKUs, variants and barcodes in both systems before the first sync. Mismatched SKUs are the main cause of failed orders after go-live.
Define accounts for sales, VAT output, shipping income, discounts, gift card liability, gateway fees and the clearing account used for payouts.
Match Shopify locations to ERP warehouses and decide where orders ship from. If you run a separate warehouse system, see our ERP WMS integration guide.
Run discount codes, partial refunds, exchanges, cash on delivery and failed payments in a test store before switching on the live store.
Launch outside peak season, watch the sync log daily for the first weeks and keep a clear error queue. Customer messages can then be layered on with an ERP WhatsApp integration.

Domestic sales are usually standard-rated at 5%. The ERP should calculate VAT from inclusive prices, issue tax invoices with your TRN where required, and feed the VAT return. Our UAE VAT ERP page covers the setup.
Subscription, app and some gateway fees may be billed by non-resident suppliers, which can trigger reverse charge VAT. Post these supplier bills in the ERP, not just as payout deductions.
The UAE e-invoicing model focuses on B2B and B2G invoices exchanged through Accredited Service Providers in PINT AE format. If you sell wholesale through Shopify B2B, those invoices may fall in scope from 2027; check the latest Ministry of Finance guidance.
Shopify customer data synced to the ERP is personal data under UAE data protection rules. Limit access by role and only sync fields you need.

Stock in Shopify reflects what the warehouse can actually ship, including reservations.
Payouts, fees and refunds are already posted, so bank reconciliation becomes a matching task instead of a rebuild.
Output VAT comes from posted invoices and credit notes, not from store exports.
Online, showroom and wholesale sales share one item master and cost, so margin by channel is comparable.
We configure the system for the rules UAE businesses report against, and test it before go-live.

Ask an ExpertThe ERP should own item codes, prices, costs and stock. Shopify can own storefront content such as images, descriptions and SEO fields, which the ERP does not need.
COD orders import as unpaid. Payment is recorded when the courier remits cash, usually against a courier receivable account, and matched to the remittance statement.
Yes. Each store, for example a UAE store and a KSA store, is mapped to its own sales channel, price list and, where needed, legal entity and currency.
With webhook or event-based sync it is usually within minutes of a stock move. Scheduled syncs every 15 to 60 minutes are cheaper but riskier during sales.
Shopify POS orders can sync like online orders, tagged by location. Some companies prefer the ERP's own POS instead; we help you choose based on stock control needs.
A standard connector setup is often three to six weeks including testing. Custom middleware for complex B2B pricing or multiple stores can take longer.
