Run your storefront on Shopify and your stock, purchasing and accounts on ERPNext. We set up the link so every web order lands in ERPNext as a proper sales order, and every stock movement updates the store.
ERPNext connects to Shopify through Frappe's separate eCommerce Integrations app, required since ERPNext version 14. It creates Shopify customers and orders in ERPNext as sales orders, maps products to items, pushes stock from chosen warehouses back to Shopify, and creates delivery notes and sales invoices per your settings. UAE sellers then reconcile COD, refunds and gateway payouts in ERPNext.
An ERPNext Shopify integration in the UAE connects the place where customers buy (your Shopify store) with the place where you control stock, purchasing, delivery and VAT (ERPNext). Shopify is very good at checkout, themes and marketing. It is not where a Dubai fashion brand or a Sharjah electronics distributor should be counting stock across a warehouse in Al Quoz and a shop in Mirdif, or reconciling courier COD remittances against invoices.
Since ERPNext version 14, the Shopify connector no longer ships inside ERPNext itself. Frappe maintains it in a separate app called eCommerce Integrations, which you install alongside ERPNext. Once configured, it can create Shopify customers and orders in ERPNext, map Shopify products to ERPNext items, push stock levels from chosen warehouses back to Shopify, and create delivery notes and sales invoices according to your settings. Exact behavior depends on the app version, so we always test against your ERPNext release first.
This page is only about Shopify with ERPNext. If your store runs on WordPress, read our ERPNext WooCommerce integration page. If you sell on several channels at once (Shopify plus Amazon.ae or Noon), the wider ERPNext ecommerce integration guide covers multi-channel design. For general ERPNext connection work, see ERPNext integration services.

These are the issues we see in UAE Shopify merchants who keep ERPNext as the back office but have no live link.
White Friday or Ramadan promotions drain stock faster than anyone updates Shopify by hand. The store keeps taking orders for items the warehouse no longer has, and customer service spends days cancelling.
A coordinator copies each order into ERPNext so the warehouse can pick it. Variants, quantities and delivery addresses in Jumeirah villas or JLT towers get mistyped, and the courier gets the wrong address.
Shopify shows prices inclusive of 5% VAT while ERPNext item prices are entered exclusive, or the other way round. Rounding on discounted orders then leaves small differences that pile up in the VAT return.
Cash-on-delivery money arrives from the courier days later, net of fees, while card payments arrive as Shopify Payments or gateway payouts. Without order-level matching, receivables in ERPNext never clear properly.
New SKUs, sizes and barcodes are created in Shopify by marketing and in ERPNext by purchasing, with different codes. Stock sync then fails silently for the items that do not match.

One shared database: every step updates stock, finance and reports in real time.

| Data | Direction | Trigger / frequency | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Orders | Shopify to ERPNext | Webhook on order creation | Created as sales orders; Shopify order number kept as a reference for customer service |
| Customers and addresses | Shopify to ERPNext | With the first order | Guest checkouts can map to one walk-in customer or create individual records; agree the rule early |
| Products and variants | ERPNext to Shopify, or matched once | On item creation or initial mapping | Match on SKU; ERPNext item variants map to Shopify variants such as size and color |
| Stock levels | ERPNext to Shopify | Scheduled, often every few minutes to hourly | Choose which warehouses count as sellable; exclude quarantine and returns bins |
| Fulfilment and tracking | ERPNext to Shopify | On delivery note submission | Triggers the Shopify shipping notification to the customer |
| Sales invoice | Created in ERPNext | On order, on fulfilment, or on payment, per settings | ERPNext stays the record for VAT; tax template applies 5% UAE VAT |
| Cancellations | Shopify to ERPNext | Webhook | Cancels the sales order if not yet delivered; otherwise handled as a return |
| Refunds and returns | Shopify to ERPNext | Webhook or manual review | Usually a credit note plus a stock return; many merchants keep a review step here |
| Payouts and gateway fees | Bank statement to ERPNext | Daily or weekly | Matched in bank reconciliation; fees posted to a charges account |
We start with the Frappe-maintained app and only add custom code where your process genuinely needs it.
A single-store integration is often live within a few weeks; multi-store or multi-warehouse setups take longer.
We decide whether ERPNext or Shopify is the source for products, then match every live Shopify SKU and variant to an ERPNext item before switching sync on.
We align VAT-inclusive pricing, shipping charges and discount codes with ERPNext sales taxes templates, so a discounted order with free delivery posts the same VAT both sides.
We install the eCommerce Integrations app, connect the Shopify store, choose the sellable warehouses, naming series, cost center and when invoices and delivery notes should be created. The same pattern is used on other storefronts, as our Shopify ERP integration overview explains.
We run COD orders, split shipments, partial refunds, an exchange, a cancelled order and a guest checkout through a test store before go-live.
We switch on webhooks, watch the integration log for failed orders during the first weeks, and train your team on how to retry or fix an exception.
The integration moves data; your compliance still depends on how ERPNext is configured. Confirm tax treatment with your tax advisor.
ERPNext should produce the tax invoice with your TRN and the prescribed fields, and simplified invoices where the rules allow for retail customers. VAT collected through Shopify must flow into the correct output tax account for the EmaraTax return. Our UAE VAT ERP setup page explains the configuration.
The UAE e-invoicing rollout under Ministerial Decisions 243 and 244 of 2025 runs through Accredited Service Providers using PINT AE. Keeping invoices in ERPNext, not Shopify, makes it easier to connect one system to an ASP later. Check the latest MoF/FTA guidance on scope, including B2C.
Shopify customer names, phone numbers and addresses are personal data under the UAE PDPL (Federal Decree-Law 45 of 2021). Sync only the fields you need and restrict who can export them from ERPNext.
Tax records generally need to be kept for at least five years. Keeping the Shopify order reference on each ERPNext invoice gives auditors a clear trail from web order to ledger.

The benefits merchants usually notice first, described without promised numbers.
Shopify shows what the ERPNext warehouses actually hold, so promotions stop selling stock you do not have.
The warehouse picks from ERPNext as soon as the order lands, without waiting for someone to rekey it.
One tax template and one invoice series means the VAT return reconciles to sales without manual adjustments.
Courier COD and gateway payouts are matched to orders, so receivables age correctly.
We configure the system for the rules UAE businesses report against, and test it before go-live.

Ask an ExpertFrappe maintains a Shopify module in its eCommerce Integrations app, which is installed separately from ERPNext from version 14 onward. Features differ between versions, so we confirm what your release supports before designing the flow.
Yes. You choose which ERPNext warehouses count toward the stock pushed to Shopify, for example a Jebel Ali warehouse and a retail store, while excluding damaged or returns locations.
Usually yes, because the app can be installed on Frappe Cloud sites. Self-hosted servers need a public URL with SSL so Shopify webhooks can reach ERPNext.
Discounts are typically posted as line or order discounts and shipping as a separate charge line with the right VAT treatment. We test discount codes and free-shipping thresholds before go-live.
If both sell from ERPNext warehouses, yes. ERPNext POS sales reduce stock immediately and the next sync updates Shopify. Barcoded stock handling is covered on our ERPNext barcode integration page.
Because orders become ERPNext documents, you can report by channel, item and region in ERPNext, or feed them into the dashboards described on our ERPNext Power BI integration page.
