RFID can count a full rail of garments or a pallet of cartons in seconds. We design the readers, tags and middleware that turn those reads into correct Odoo stock and asset records.
Odoo does not include a native RFID module; it has strong barcode support instead. An Odoo RFID integration needs tags encoded with a unique EPC (usually SGTIN), handheld or fixed readers, and middleware or a custom Odoo module that filters raw reads and posts counts or asset events. UAE fashion retailers, distributors, hospitals, hotels and rental companies benefit most.
Odoo RFID integration in the UAE connects RFID readers, which can read hundreds of tags at once without line of sight, to Odoo's inventory, asset and maintenance records. Unlike barcodes, Odoo does not include a native RFID module. A working solution has three parts: tags encoded with a unique EPC, usually an SGTIN derived from the product's GTIN plus a serial; readers (handhelds, fixed dock-door readers or overhead portals); and middleware or a custom Odoo module that filters raw reads and posts meaningful events to Odoo through its API.
In the UAE, RFID is most useful for fashion and footwear retailers in malls who count stores weekly, for distributors receiving mixed pallets at Jebel Ali or KIZAD, for hospitals and hotels tracking linen, equipment and returnable assets, and for rental companies checking items out and back. For a general trading company with cartons on racks, scanning barcodes is often enough and much cheaper, so we always test whether RFID is justified.
This page is Odoo-specific. For the platform-neutral approach see ERP RFID integration in the UAE. For scan-by-scan operations see Odoo barcode integration, and for the wider platform see Odoo ERP in the UAE.

Product names and logos are trademarks of their respective owners and are shown only to identify the software we implement.
These are the operational problems that make the extra cost of RFID worth discussing.
Counting a fashion store item by item with barcodes takes a full night shift, so it happens rarely and shrinkage is found late.
Inbound containers with mixed cartons are opened and checked line by line against the packing list, delaying putaway by days.
Linen, tool kits, crates and rental equipment leave the site and nobody knows which customer or project still holds them.
Pilot projects that pushed every tag read straight into Odoo created duplicates and slowed the database. Filtering has to happen before Odoo.
Tags were bought and applied with no encoding rule, so a read cannot be traced back to a product, serial or asset in Odoo.
Odoo stays the system of record; the middleware does the heavy lifting of reading and filtering.
One shared database: every step updates stock, finance and reports in real time.
A typical design; the exact split depends on the reader vendor's software and your volumes.
| Data | Direction | Trigger / frequency | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Product and GTIN master | Odoo to middleware | On change | Used to decode SGTIN EPCs into Odoo products |
| Serial or asset IDs | Odoo to middleware | On creation | Links each tag to an Odoo serial number or equipment record |
| Tag encoding requests | Odoo to RFID printer | On receipt or labelling run | RFID-enabled label printers encode and print in one pass |
| Count results (EPC list) | Middleware to Odoo | After each count session | Aggregated into quantities per location, then posted as a count for approval |
| Dock-door receipt reads | Middleware to Odoo | When a pallet passes the portal | Compared with the expected receipt; differences flagged before validation |
| Asset check-out / check-in | Middleware to Odoo | At exit and return points | Updates asset location, customer or project; can trigger maintenance |
| Exceptions (unknown tags, missing items) | Middleware to Odoo | Per session | Shown to a supervisor, not posted automatically |
RFID for Odoo is always a combination of hardware, vendor software and Odoo configuration or development.
We start small and prove the read accuracy before committing to hardware across all sites.
We confirm the one or two processes where RFID changes the economics, such as store counts or asset returns, and compare against barcode scanning.
We choose tag types for your materials (metal, liquids and dense packing need special tags) and an EPC scheme linked to Odoo products or serials.
Readers are tested in a real store or dock with your products to check read rates, stray reads from nearby areas and antenna placement.
We build or configure the filtering layer and a custom Odoo module for count sessions, exceptions and asset events, using the API rather than direct database writes.
Sites go live one by one, with a reconciliation report comparing RFID counts with Odoo stock until the process is trusted.
Confirm specifics for your sector and equipment with the relevant authority.
RFID readers are radio equipment and must be type-approved by the UAE's Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA). Buy models approved for the UAE frequency band through local distributors.
Count adjustments posted from RFID change stock valuation, so they should pass an approval step and remain auditable for VAT and corporate tax record keeping.
If tags are linked to employees, patients or guests, for example on uniforms or wristbands, the link is personal data under UAE PDPL and needs a clear purpose and access controls.

Realistic benefits; results depend on tags, environment and discipline.
Counts that took a night with barcodes can become a routine task done more often.
Frequent counts show missing stock while it can still be investigated.
Pallet contents are checked against the expected receipt before stock is accepted in Odoo.
Every returnable asset has a last-known location, customer or project in Odoo.
We configure the system for the rules UAE businesses report against, and test it before go-live.

Ask an ExpertNo. Odoo has strong barcode support but no native RFID module. RFID needs reader software or middleware plus a custom Odoo module or API integration, which we design for your process.
Some handhelds can send a single tag read as keyboard input, which works for one-at-a-time tasks. The real value of RFID is bulk reading, which needs middleware to group reads before posting to Odoo.
Usually Inventory for counts and receipts, and Maintenance or Rental for assets. Store sales still go through POS, where barcodes are normally used at the till.
Not if the design is right. Middleware filters raw reads and posts only aggregated counts and events, so Odoo processes a few transactions rather than thousands of reads.
Indirectly. Accurate store and warehouse counts mean the stock published to channels is right. Channel sync itself is covered on Odoo ecommerce integration and Odoo Noon integration.
